أعلن المتحدث العسكري باسم القوات المسلحة المصرية عن مقتل وإصابة ضابط و14 فردًا من قوات الجيش في ساعة مبكرة من صباح اليوم، السبت، وذلك إثر هجوم مسلح على كمين أمني جنوب مدينة العريش، ومقتل 7 مسلحين من مهاجمي الكمين خلال تبادل لإطلاق النيران، بحسب بيان نشره المتحدث اليوم، السبت. فيما انقطعت خدمات الاتصالات والإنترنت عن عاصمة محافظة شمال سيناء لمدة ساعتين صباح اليوم، بحسب مصادر محلية.في حين قال مصدر طبي إن 15 جثمانًا وخمسة مصابين نُقلوا من موقع الهجوم جنوب العريش إلى مستشفى العريش العسكري، وجاري تجهيز سيارات إسعاف حاليًا لنقل الجثامين إلى المحافظات، بحسب المصدر. وهو ما أكدته وثيقة ضمّت أسماء 15 قتيلًا ضمنهم ضابط واحد والبقية جنود.فيما أفادت مصادر محلية في العريش أن انفجارًا مدويًا سُمع قرب الساعة الخامسة فجر اليوم، السبت، تبعه إطلاق رصاص، وأصوات انفجارات متتالية قادمة من المناطق الجنوبية بعاصمة محافظة شمال سيناء خلف الطريق الدائري الجنوبي.وحسب المصادر المحلية، فإن أصوات الانفجارات استمرت حتى الساعة السابعة صباحًا، وبعدها حلقت مقاتلات حربية بكثافة على ارتفاعات منخفضة في سماء المدينة حتى الساعة التاسعة صباحا.
